SUMMARY:NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation Course
DESCRIPTION:Introduction\nStillwater Rifle & Pistol Club (SR&PC) offers a free pistol course that will benefit everyone regardless of his or her level of shooting experience. The course is taught by a team of NRA- certified instructors. The curriculum is based on the NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation course. It was revised\, however\, to make it helpful to not only new shooters but also experienced shooters. New shooters will learn how to safely handle pistols and shoot accurately in a comfortable and efficient way. Experienced shooters will be shooting a more challenging live fire course depending on his or her level of proficiency. It is recommended to repeat the course multiple times. Everyone who has successfully completed the course will receive a certificate from the NRA. The class is limited to ten students\, and its duration is approximately three hours. \nTime\n1:30-4:30 pm \nLocation\nSixty-yard bay of the SR&PC Range (Stillwater Rifle & Pistol Club on Google maps. The gate is at N36.1797° W97.1942°) \nEnrollment\nFor enrollment\, please email the following information to instructor@srpc.info: \n\nDate of class (Enrollment will close five days before the class. Enrollment for new students starts immediately; students who took this course two or more time can be added during the last four-week period before the class if there are available seats.)\nName*\nGender*\nAddress*\nPhone number*\nDate of birth*\nMake and model of your handgun\n\n* Required by the NRA. If you are attending the course repeatedly\, you do not need to send the same information again. \nFees\nThis course is free of charge. \nCourse Topics\n\nOverview of Gun Safety and Handgun Marksmanship (1 hour)\nLive Fire (2 hours)\n\nLive Fire Test\nAttendees will shoot standing with two hands at NRA B8 targets from a distance ranging from 5- 25 yards. The minimum requirement is to hit the 8-inch circle at five yards 80% of the time. Even first-time shooters can accomplish it without difficulty when coached properly. The distance will increase up to 25 yards depending on your level of proficiency. \nWhat to Bring\nBring a handgun\, approximately 100 rounds of ammunition\, eye and ear protection\, water\, snacks\, hat\, lawn chair\, and whatever else you may need for a few hours of outdoor activities. Instructors will provide guns if you do not own a handgun or want to try different types of handguns.

Single-point slings\, or slings that do not provide much control of the muzzle\, are highly discouraged.\nGuns must remain holstered or bagged\, and completely unloaded on the range until instructed to do so at the firing line.\nEye and ear protection is required. \n4 stages\nStages will be active\, with moving and shooting. Fingers MUST remain off the trigger\, and rifle safeties engaged when moving. Stages will be timed\, but the emphasis will be on being SAFE\, sharpening your shooting skills\, and having a good time with fellow shooters. The spirit of the event will be to prioritize accuracy over speed and treat the stages as if they were realistic defensive training scenarios. \nDivisions: \n\nOpen: Any optic on rifle and pistol allowed\, no equipment limitations. Center fire rifle and pistol. Target distances can be up to 500 yards.\nLimited: Any optic on rifle\, iron sights only on pistol. Pistol is limited to 10 rounds loaded per mag (mags can be any capacity). Center fire rifle and pistol. Target distances can be up to 500 yards.\nRimfire: Both rimfire rifle and pistol required. All optics/equipment allowed. Target distances can be up to 150 yards.\nPCC: Pistol caliber carbine and center fire pistol. All optics/equipment allowed. SUMMARY:NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation Course
DESCRIPTION:Introduction\nStillwater Rifle & Pistol Club (SR&PC) offers a free pistol course that will benefit everyone regardless of his or her level of shooting experience. The course is taught by a team of NRA- certified instructors. The curriculum is based on the NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation course. It was revised\, however\, to make it helpful to not only new shooters but also experienced shooters. New shooters will learn how to safely handle pistols and shoot accurately in a comfortable and efficient way. Experienced shooters will be shooting a more challenging live fire course depending on his or her level of proficiency. It is recommended to repeat the course multiple times. Everyone who has successfully completed the course will receive a certificate from the NRA. The class is limited to ten students\, and its duration is approximately three hours. \nDates and Time\n1:30-4:30 pm on the following dates: \n\nFebruary 23\, 2025\nApril 27\, 2025\nSeptember 21\, 2025\nNovember 16\, 2025\n\nLocation\nSixty-yard bay of the SR&PC Range (Stillwater Rifle & Pistol Club on Google maps. If you are attending the course repeatedly\, you do not need to send the same information again. \nFees\nThis course is free of charge. \nCourse Topics\n\nOverview of Gun Safety and Handgun Marksmanship (1 hour)\nLive Fire (2 hours)\n\nLive Fire Test\nAttendees will shoot standing with two hands at NRA B8 targets from a distance ranging from 5- 25 yards. The minimum requirement is to hit the 8-inch circle at five yards 80% of the time. Even first-time shooters can accomplish it without difficulty when coached properly. The distance will increase up to 25 yards depending on your level of proficiency. \nWhat to Bring\nBring a handgun\, approximately 100 rounds of ammunition\, eye and ear protection\, water\, snacks\, hat\, lawn chair\, and whatever else you may need for a few hours of outdoor activities. Instructors will provide guns if you do not own a handgun or want to try different types of handguns.
