SUMMARY:Stilly Run N Gun 2025
DESCRIPTION:Stilly Run N’ Gun is a biathlon at Stillwater Rifle & Pistol Club (SRPC) near Stillwater\, OK. SRPC is a volunteer-run range committed to furthering the shooting sports in the north-central Oklahoma region. This event will be part running\, part shooting\, and part adventure with a little bit of everything else sprinkled in. The spirit of RNG events are to test your fortitude\, fitness and morale. Along the way\, you will find any weakness in shooting skills\, equipment and gear. This event is not for inexperienced shooters. You will be expected to follow the four rules of firearm safety at all times\, in addition to SRPC’s range safety rules. These are non-negotiable: safety comes first. We want everyone to have a great time AND go home safely. Except for emergencies\, RO’s are not allowed to help competitors at any point along the course. \n\nREGISTRATIONhttps://practiscore.com/stilly-run-n-gun-2025/register \nSUMMARYYou don’t need anything fancy to come out and compete. In fact\, it’s highly discouraged to game this event by building lightweight rifles\, buying fancy equipment\, etc. Bring your “go-to” gear and put it to the test. That’s what the whole event is about; it is a “run what you brung” type of event. Pack in any gear that you think will give you an advantage and you think is worth the weight. Just remember you have to haul it from start to finish. \nThis course is meant to be challenging. It’s a game thats purpose is to show you what skills you have and don’t have. Hopefully\, training for this event or others like it will make you stronger\, faster\, and a better shooter. New AND experienced competitors can expect to have a DNF (Did Not Finish) on at least one stage\, maybe more. Any difficulties experienced during this event are meant to encourage conversations and plans to train and come back more prepared next time. If you fail to complete a stage or an obstacle\, look at the bright side: you can train between now and the next event and get good-er. \nThere will be no sight-in/zeroing range or targets available on property. In the spirit of RNG’s\, treat this like some crazy event where you quickly need to put your equipment to use. If you’re reading this and aren’t sure if your primary rifle is zeroed\, you should take care of that. Run order will be random. If you wish to share a rifle/pistol or other gear with a fellow competitor\, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you. Runners will not be allowed to start as a group with friends. The only exception is if your child\, or maybe an older parent\, is competing and will need assistance/supervision during the event. \nACCOMMODATIONSLunch will be provided to all paid competitors and observers. We have booked 11 tent camp sites at the nearby Lake McMurtry west campground. These will be given on a first come\, first served basis so reach out to me after registering and I’ll make sure you have a spot. You’re welcome to book an RV spot yourself if you’re bringing that type of setup. Make sure to choose the west side RV spots. The east side is a bit of a drive. Overnight camping is not allowed on the actual range property\, so you must reserve a campsite if that’s your plan. The range has porta potties\, but no running water and not a whole lot else. Bring plenty of water and other necessary items for before and after your run. If the weather isn’t ideal\, I would also recommend some sort of protection from the elements\, as there is not an indoor gathering area. Alcohol is prohibited on all range and Lake McMurtry property. \nSAFETY RULESTreat every firearm as if it’s loaded until you verify that it is not.Don’t point your firearm at anything you are not willing to destroyKnow your target\, what’s in front of it and what’s behind it.Do not put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot. Remove your finger while moving from one position to another and when you are not ready to shoot. Rifles must be on safe while moving or transitioning between shooting positions.Rifles must have an empty chamber and no magazine in them\, except when otherwise instructed by an RO at a shooting stage.Pistols must have an empty chamber\, except when otherwise instructed by an RO at a shooting stage. You may run with an empty or loaded magazine in the gun to keep debris from getting inside. Pistols must stay holstered at all times unless given the “fire” command by an RO on a shooting stage.Ear and eye protection are required. All individual competitors must be above the age of 18. If older than 15\, you may run under the supervision of your parent/guardian in the Greenhorn division.Competitors will be disqualified and immediately sent home for the following violations:Having a loaded rifle anywhere except on a shooting stage after the RO has instructed to “load and make ready”Negligent dischargeShooting over a berm or beyond the shooting stage boundariesDropping a loaded firearmPointing a firearm at someone \nGEARAllowed rifle calibers: 5.56/.223\, 300 BO\, 7.62×39\, and .308. Armor Piercing or steel core (green/black tip) ammo is NOT allowed. This includes XM855. If you are found shooting a different caliber or prohibited ammo\, you will be responsible for replacing any damaged targets and disqualified from the event.Allowed handgun calibers: 9mm\, .40 and .45. No 5.7×28. And to be honest\, you wouldn’t want to shoot steel spinners with it anyway. Pistol caliber carbines do not count as pistols. \nPrepare for targets out to 500 yds for rifle and 100 yds for pistol. \nA two point or biathlon-type sling is required for your rifle. Single point slings are not allowed and do not provide sufficient muzzle control. \nA hard sided outside the waistband holster (polymer or kydex) is required for your pistol. This must be mounted to your belt in a safe configuration. We recommend an active retention or Level 2 style holster if possible. You will be in many awkward shooting positions and we do not want a loaded gun falling out of your holster. Soft-sided leather\, nylon\, or Serpa-style holsters are NOT allowed on the course. \nIf you are caught with non-compliant gear\, you will be disqualified and asked to leave the course. It is up to you to verify that your gear is compliant with the rules before you begin the event. Please do not hesitate to check and ask staff if you have any questions. You will need a way to keep wait time at the stages. Do not expect RO’s to help with this in any way. \nPlease\, please\, please carry water on you for the event. \nDIVISIONSThis event has two divisions that you can choose to participate in: Greenhorn & Outlaw. Distance will be close to 7-ish miles in total\, running from start to finish.ObserverNot competing at allCame solely to watch and video their loved one\, or friend\, struggle while shooting stagesCan additionally cheer or jeer (in good spirit) on said friend or other competitorsShow up and pay cash at the eventGreenhornRunning and Shooting are scoredThis is the division for first time competitors or young/old competitors or for people who are ok with mediocrityOutlawRunning\, Shooting and Fitness are scoredExpect an obstacle courseAdditional physical exertion on shooting stagesOther stuff to make it fun  \nWHAT TO EXPECT – PROCEDURES ON THE COURSEWhen a competitor arrives at a shooting stage\, they will show an empty magwell and chamber to the RO. Once this is done\, the shooter may start their wait time. Once on wait time\, shooters may not mess with any gear or set gear on the ground. You will leave it exactly like it was when you showed the RO a clear rifle. When it’s the shooters turn\, they will tell the RO their wait time(the amount of time that has elapsed since they showed a clear rifle on arrival to when they completed shooting the stage). The RO will then read you the stage brief. Once you understand the stage brief\, the RO will instruct you to go to the start position and make ready. This may OR may not include loading firearms. On the buzzer\, you will then start engaging targets as instructed on the course of fire. While moving\, your finger must be off the trigger\, firearm on safe\, and muzzle pointed in a safe direction. ALWAYS KEEP THESE IN MIND. Once all targets have been successfully engaged\, or you run out of time\, you will be instructed to clear your rifle first\, then clear your pistol chamber. RO’s will verify both firearms have been properly cleared but it is ultimately the competitor’s responsibility to make sure they are following the safety rules. Competitor will then follow the marked course to arrive at the next stage and repeat the process. If the “STOP” or “CEASE FIRE” command is ever given\, the competitor must immediately stop shooting\, safe their firearm and make sure their muzzle is pointed in a safe direction. The RO will then tell the competitor how to proceed.Since most shooting stages will be at a central location\, there will be certain items or tasks that must be completed between each stage. This is to make sure that competitors are getting the required distance in. \nMALFUNCTIONSIf the shooter experiences malfunctions while on the shooting clock\, there are two options:Clear malfunction on the shooting clock and continue shooting stage. If the shooter runs out of time but the malfunction was able to be cleared\, the shooter will receive a DNF plus any penalties for unengaged targets and continue along the course as normal. If the gun has completely failed and will no longer function\, the shooter can:Return to the start of the course\, repair/replace said firearm\, and start the entire course from the beginning all over again. Any stages that were previously shot will be scored using the worst of the two scores for that stage. \nSCORINGScoring percentages will vary by division. Obstacles and fitness activities will be a pass/fail metric. All other scores will be percentile based\, with first place getting 100 points\, the lowest score to complete the stage getting 0\, and any DNF’s will receive 0 points plus any penalties. Each stage will have a “Par Time” on the stage brief. This is the maximum amount of time the competitor has to complete the course of fire once the buzzer goes off. It will be 180 seconds or less to keep the flow of competitors going. If a competitor runs out of time\, the number of targets that were not engaged will be counted as negative points. \nGreenhorn50% shoot50% run \nOutlaw50% shoot25% run25% fitness/obstacles \nREGISTRATIONRegistration at https://practiscore.com/stilly-run-n-gun-2025/register will open up on June 18 at 8 PM CST. Tickets for competitors are $150 each and $25 for Observers. Competitors must register online.
